| Description | All files in "region3" directory (the world I was playing) deleted upon save in Fortress Mode. After saving I selected "continue playing" and it said something on the order of "missing file - please load backup file if possible". Unable to restore world, files and fortress lost forever. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | I formed a military squad of 9. Then I selected *specific* weapons and armor for certain dwarves in the squad to use. Then, while still paused, I saved the game. When I tried to continue playing, it gave me the error message. I went to the saves directory and "region3" all files were missing. It left the "graphics" and "object" (or something like that) folders in the directory, but all were missing. I was using Lazy Newb Pack for 0.31.25 with NO mods loaded currently. | ||||

In which directory did you install Dwarf Fortress? If the answer is "in C:\Program Files\Dwarf Fortress", then you must run the game with elevated (i.e. Administrator) privileges or saved games will be placed in a different location which the game might not be able to locate. |

I haven't run the windows version in ages. If there is a proper installer though, and the above note from Quietust is accurate, the game should probably create a directory under CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA and put save files there (they are per-user, after all). |

The Windows version just comes as a plain ZIP file, not an installer. |
