Summary0004644: Trees, shrubs and bugs are displayed as É, ä and the like.
DescriptionCertain trees, shrubs (both above as underground) are displayed as a faulty character. So are dragonflies and maybe some other things I've yet to notice. I've included a picture to make myself clear.

That's because your RAW files were modified for use with a specific tileset (since minerals, plants, and vermin cannot make use of custom graphical tiles the way creatures can) and you're no longer using that specific tileset. Either switch your tileset back or edit your raws to have them use the "normal" characters for minerals + plants + vermin.

Thanks for the help, but I didn't modify any RAW files, I even redownloaded the entire game to be sure. Even when I view it in the default style with curses, I get the És and äs. It looks to me that the error lies in the tile it retrieves from the tileset image.
I've checked the RAW files and despite the Cedar trees pointing to [TREE_TILE:23], I get the wrong picture.

Last I checked, the "curses" mode ([PRINT_MODE:TEXT]) didn't work on Windows, only Linux/Mac.

Are you looking at the global raws (raw/objects/*) or the region-specific raws (data/save/regionX/raw/objects/*)? Are you seeing this problem with your own world or with a saved game you downloaded from another website?

The problem were the region-specific raws, they pointed to other values on the tileset image. I did some tinkering and screwed up a region, so I'm generating a new one to see if the problem is fixed.
Thanks for your help! :D

It's possible your world was generated using a version of DF that had been modded for use with a custom tileset (e.g. Lazy Newb Pack).
