Summary | 0004929: Dwarves don't bring cages to stockpiles.
Description | Dwarves ignore all unconstructed animal cages, refusing to bring them to designated Animal stockpiles. Moving cages to stockpiles does not appear in the jobs menu.
Steps To Reproduce | Unknown; It occurs randomly, but in my save appears to occur late game. It might have something to do with multiple stockpiles of the same type set to accept empty cages, and only one (not completely full) stockpile to accept the full ones.
Additional Information | As an interesting note, dwarves will re-load cage traps with new cages while the old cage is still sitting on top of it. On my particular save, this bug didn't occur until relatively late in the game, if that helps. I've uploaded my save for inspection, and it can be viewed here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5070 (The only stockpile designated to recieve animals is stockpile No. 37; the one immediately in view. There are a few other stockpiles present a few levels up to accept empty cages, but not full ones.)

Whoops, meant to say it was Stockpile 37; Didn't know that pound signs caused automatic links... |

I'm currently downloading the save file, but it's going to take 20 minutes to finish (since DFFD is rather slow) so I'll ask a few questions upfront: 1: In the Standing (o)rders menu, are your dwarves set to gather animals? 2: Do your idle dwarves have the Animal Hauling labor enabled? 3: Can your dwarves reach both the cages and the animal stockpiles? 4: Are both the cages and stockpiles located in burrows your dwarves are permitted to enter? 5: Have the animal stockpiles been cleared of stone? |
|
Facepalm.... I guess I forgot to re-enable animal hauling. I'm sorry for wasting your time... Now, how do I set issues as resolved? |

You don't - you wait for one of the admins to come along and close it. In the future, you should probably first ask for help in the Forums to make sure what you're seeing is actually a bug and not an instance of user error. |
