| Steps To Reproduce | 1. have a miner become 'peculiarly secretive' 2. when he claims a shop, go into his inventory and forbid his pick (or dump, but i think it was forbid) 3. after the pick is placed in a stockpile, have another dwarf enable mining, and designate an area to mine 4. observe no dwarf picking up the pick | ||||

There are reports of this happening after caveins as well. Are you sure the pick was not forbidden, and would the dwarf you enabled mining on have been able to pick it up? (IE: not carrying other tools/weapons). |

Did the moody dwarf still have the Mining labor enabled? If so, that pick was still assigned to that miner, preventing anybody else from using it. |

Logical: I can't rule out cave-ins as a factor... The pick would have had to be directly involved in the cave-in? All 8 dwarves with mining enabled are not carrying anything. Quietust: Sounds logical! Just tried removing the labor, but no movement from the 8 others that do have it enabled. |

Update: Mr Sadface died from starvation, and the pick was freed. |

I'm going to resolve this, and mark it as "no change required" for now. It sounds like the pick was still assigned - as killing him freed it - so although annoying, it isn't quite a bug. If you can repeat this and it's not a side-effect of being assigned, please feel free to reopen this issue. |
