Summary0004976: Having bees underground by putting channels to the sun above them screwed up dwarf pathfinding on the way to do colony tasks
DescriptionOn Z level -1 I built a room for justice. For fun and punishment I
thought I'd put some bee hives in there. So I dug channels through the
roof, letting in the air and sunlight. This succesfully changed tiles
in the middle of the room to 'outside' and 'light' and let me have
living bees down there. The problem is with path-finding...

I keep catching my dwarves hung up in a cranny in the hillside I built
my fortress into, stuck, unmoving, getting thirsty and hungry with the
apparent job Install colony in hive. Apparently they can't figure out
how to walk there. Is the channel skylight confusing them?

May be hard to reproduce. But just try putting a room one level
beneath the ground with channels through the ceiling and put bees down
there. Then see if your guys get lost...

I'm walling off the cranny multiple dwarves have stuck in now to see
if that gets the kink out

Reminder sent to: flamoot

Are your beekeepers stuck with the job "installing colony in hive"?

Do you have more than 1 hive built at a time that needs a colony?

Do you have more than 1 dwarf with the beekeeping labor active?

Good news, it happened again in the same version. This time on a map with no hills or crannies for them to get stuck in (I had removed ramps up on my other map). So he's just in some grass with "Installing colony in hive" labour on doing nothing.

> Are your beekeepers stuck with the job "installing colony in hive"?

Yes one is again

> Do you have more than 1 hive built at a time that needs a colony?

Yes

> Do you have more than 1 dwarf with the beekeeping labor active?

Yes I have six beekeepers
