| Description | I was just about to set down some designations when the dwarven liaison announced his departure. In fact it happened so suddenly that the announcement may have been made on the same frame that I pressed "D" on. After I exited out of the announcement I was unable to do anything besides move my cursor with the arrow keys and look at the help screen via "?". I could not unpause the game, couldn't exit from the designation menu, couldn't even hit the excape key to save my game. I tried toggling caps lock. I tried using alt-tab to switch to a different window, I tried button mashing. Eventually the only thing I could do to un-freeze it was to set a designation with my mouse. After that the rest of the controls spontaneously came back. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | ??? Spam the "D" button just before a liason is about to take off?? You could pause and save before he takes off, then move the game ahead one frame at a time saving every ten steps or so. When they leave force quit the game to re-load a few frames earlier for faster testing. | ||||

Are you using a laptop with a trackpad? Sometimes those can get stuck in scrolling mode and won't get unstuck until you fiddle with the mouse. |

No, it wasn't that. I always play a little bit further out from the maximum zoom, any other setting irritates me for some reason. It was a very localized issue, certainly wish I could reproduce it. I do use a trackpad though. I dunno, it's been a while since it happened so it could very well have been that. Even if that was the case I don't know why the "?" and arrow keys would have worked when nothing else did though. |

Is it possible you'd started a designation that was still in progress when the event pulled your screen away? If there was a designation somewhere far away that was still open, that could cause weirdness. |

I believe that is what happened actually. I've noticed that the dwarven liaison will sometimes interrupt me from my business while the game is paused, but the result is usually nil. I finish my duities with the request screen and everything is fine. In this case the game was not only paused, but I was also in the middle of doing something. The announcement screen while the game is paused still happens in the current version, but the lockup may be next to impossible to reproduce. |

If it happens again, please check the designation situation carefully and reopen this report if that's not the cause. |
