Summary0005065: Thirst/hunger seem to be shared
DescriptionIf your dwarf is thirsty and hungry, and you drink a lot of water to remove thirst, you can't eat food because you're "too full" even if you're still suffering from hunger. Works the other way around as well, eating to remove hunger fills you up so you can't drink water to quench your thirst.
Steps To ReproduceBecome very hungry and thirsty

Eat or drink one of them away

Try to do the same to the other.

Whether or not this is intentional, it's realistic, at least in principle. One way a starving person can calm hunger pangs is to fill up on water.

I think what the Orkel2 means is that the tracking for whether you've eaten or drank too much is shared. AKA if a dwarf drinks three units of water he's full, just as if he ate three plump helmets (so not the same as drinking water to reduce hunger). The title is a little deceptive, but there isn't really a clean way to word this. "drinking water makes you full, and vice-versa" or something like that?
