Summary | 0005718: Z-stocks screen: thoughts for enhancements...
Description | There are lots of things that I would like to be able to do in the Z-stocks screen. For example, in addition to the existing "dump" command, I want to have a command that will cause the selected item (or category of items) to be moved to a stockpile which I can choose, similar to the existing "Take From A Pile" interface. Prime use: "select all charcoal, move it to the stockpile I have setup next to my forges & smelters". I want to be able to select multiple items at a time-- perhaps toggle via spacebar?-- and highlite them, and then decide on an action for all selected items. (similar to multiple squad orders) I want to be able to search for items matching a string, and have them become highlited. (Go to armor or clothing, search for "large", and then melt/dump...) I want to be able to search by item quality. (Search for all tattered or worse, and dump/melt.) I want the stocks interface to take advantage of the hierarchy of items already setup and defined in the various building menus, rather than consisting of vast multi-page lists. One example for extending this would be to arrange the left-hand list into categories (taken from the types of stockpiles or similar). So, user does z, scroll sideways to status, hit enter. There's a top-line menu of: All Food Weapons Armor Clothing Furniture Stone Bars Tools [ ... ] [ or base it from the order in the (p) stockpiles list ] ...starting with "All" chosen, and you get the current list exactly as before. But you can scroll sideways and just look at the bars of metal you have, without having to scroll threw a bunch of pages. (Or let me hit "b" if cursor in the top-level menu to jump immediately to that category.) Or don't have a top menu, but instead have a scrollable hierarchy view, perhaps implemented via Miller columns. So: Ammo -> Arrow -> Bolt -> Bone -> Metal -> Wood -> Siege -> Other (blowdarts?) Armor -> Metal -> Iron -> Mail shirts -> Breastplates -> Leggings [ ... ] -> Copper -> Mail shirts [ ... ] -> Leather -> [ etc ]
