Summary | 0005814: Fireproof Dwarves Refuse to Eat
Description | When dwarves are given following tags at the end of their definition in the raws, they refuse to eat, even when food is present, and eventually starve to death: [SELECT_MATERIAL:ALL] [COLDDAM_POINT:NONE] [HEATDAM_POINT:NONE] [IGNITE_POINT:NONE] [IF_EXISTS_SET_MELTING_POINT:15000] [IF_EXISTS_SET_BOILING_POINT:20000]
Steps To Reproduce | Add the tags to the end of the definition of DWARF in the raws in creature_standard.txt, then create a world and embark anywhere. Within a few seasons, they should start dying. Other signs will be present earlier, such as hunting for vermin.

The problem is that the food they're trying to eat is below their blood's freezing point, so they think that it's too cold to safely handle (i.e. they think they'll get frostbite). The same thing happens if you make their blood boil at a low temperature (they think they'll get burned). This sort of modding will also prevent caravans from coming, since they will consider the local climate to be inhospitable. [edit] To further clarify, this behavior is intentional and likely not an actual bug. |
