Summary0005972: River refills to 7/7 at midwinter instead of either freezing or doing nothing
DescriptionEmbarked on a map with a waterfall, in a cold (I believe) climate. After much silly waterfall fun, including the entire departing dwarven caravan being lost, I was interested in trying to reclaim some of the loot/bodies at the top and bottom of the fall. As winter started, the up-stream end of the river froze with the remaining portion of the river slowly draining over the escarpment. As winter progressed, I assumed that either the rest of the river would freeze and I could dig out the ice, or the flow amounts would be low enough to send in some expendable dwarves. However at mid-winter the partially drained unfrozen river instantaneously returned to 7/7, and then promptly started draining again. In the process everything in the riverbed (loot + bodies) disappeared, whether because they really disappeared or were swept off the map I don't know.
Additional InformationIt's possible I was straddling two climes and the downstream portion of the river shouldn't freeze, ever. However it also shouldn't magically created water.

P.S. It would be nice if river bottoms were automatically designated as restricted traffic areas, so that dwarves would at least try and use the shiny, new bridge

If it instantly returned to 7/7, it's likely that the water did freeze, only to melt a split-second later.
