Description | Embarked on a map with a waterfall, in a cold (I believe) climate. After much silly waterfall fun, including the entire departing dwarven caravan being lost, I was interested in trying to reclaim some of the loot/bodies at the top and bottom of the fall. As winter started, the up-stream end of the river froze with the remaining portion of the river slowly draining over the escarpment. As winter progressed, I assumed that either the rest of the river would freeze and I could dig out the ice, or the flow amounts would be low enough to send in some expendable dwarves. However at mid-winter the partially drained unfrozen river instantaneously returned to 7/7, and then promptly started draining again. In the process everything in the riverbed (loot + bodies) disappeared, whether because they really disappeared or were swept off the map I don't know. |
