Summary | 0005988: Dwarves Can't Find Food
Description | I am not sure if it is a stock pile issue, however my dwarves refused to eat chicken eggs for an entire season, and instead spent their days hunting for small vermin and eating them since eggs were my only source of food. Eggs also could not be cooked.
Steps To Reproduce | You might be able to do it if you embarked with only chickens and nest boxes.
Additional Information | I was able to resolve it by dumping and undumping the eggs or saving, I don't know which. I did make sure they were not forbidden.

I wasn't aware that eggs were edible raw... |
"Eggs also could not be cooked." - what happens when you try? |
Well nothing. My cook just gets the "Need cook-able food[raw]," problem. He then proceeded to hunt for small vermin. It might have also been a problem with my manager, who couldn't find his table during the same game. |
As far as I know if you only have one ingredient (e.g. only have chicken eggs too cook, or only badger tallow, or only dwarven sugar, etc.) the cook won't use it. Won't even use two stacks (or three or four, for fancier meals) of the same thing. The cook won't look for more of what he already has: for easy meals you have to have two distinct ingredients, four distinct for lavish meals. Which may be a bug of its own, I don't know. Expert input on that? |
I've definitely seen stacks of meals made from four of the same type of egg. |
Reminder sent to: DwarvenVoyer Can you confirm that the dwarves are able to path to the eggs/tables in question? If they're confined to a burrow, it won't work. Also, see 0005912. If none of that explains what you're seeing, please upload a save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ and post a link here. |
No follow-up and no corroboration on this. Resolving as unable to reproduce. DwarvenVoyer, if you can provide an updated save (version 40.24+) where this is reproducible, please reopen this report or contact a manager on the forums. |
