Summary0006030: Dwarfs won't mine or cut down trees
DescriptionThis happened on both my 2nd and 3rd fortress in this world. I chose "Play Now" instead of "Choose carefully". I embark, then immediately "A section of the cavern has collapsed!" (not sure if this is related, but it happened both times). I designate a nearby area to mine and some trees to chop but they don't do it or give me feedback as to why they won't. They both have mining and woodcutting enabled appropriately. The 'j' screen reports the miner and woodcutter have 'No Job'. I see a (copper pick) and a (copper battle axe) in a weapon stockpile and they are not forbidden. Currently there is no military squad so no-one should be assigned the pick or axe. There does not appear to be any path-finding problem as the designated trees are on the same z-level as wagon about 30 tiles away, and the designated mine is about 20 tiles away down one z-level but with plenty down ramps available. I have tried with and without dwarf therapist, also have disabled and enabled the mining and woodcutting labors several times manually in-game with no luck.
Additional InformationGamelog.txt starting 2nd and 3rd fortress:
** Starting New Outpost **
A section of the cavern has collapsed!
A snow storm has come.

I also have the save.rar available if there is a way to upload it.

This sounds similar to a problem with a certain save someone had involving a certain Candy tower that extended 2000 blocks into the sky. The game would begin with a Cave Collapse, followed by no-one ever using their picks/axes.

How many Z-levels tall is your embark region?
