Summary0006033: Areas once covered in magma seemingly not being cleared for pathfinding across
DescriptionThe problem itself is that some squares that have been full of magma seem to be retaining the impassable flag that stops dwarfs pathing through magma.

This was noticed by me as I was attempting to build a staircase down into a drained volcano, and later in the same save, when attempting to build a wall in a tunnel previously filled 7/7 with magma. Reflooding the area seems to have no effect, neither does building constructions around it.
Steps To ReproduceEssentially, I have drained a volcano down several z-levels by tapping into it from the sides at the level I wished to bring it down to, and then using pumps and draining the magma off the sides of the map.

I then sealed off the bottom of the volcano with cast obsidian, and attempted to build a staircase down to the level inside the now empty volcano. However, after a few z-levels, the staircase was flagged as having no available building materials, and I was unable to continue. This is not a design flaw; I am just building a 2x2 staircase vertically down.

In my first save where this happened, whilst attempting to negotiate my way around it, I encountered the same bug inside a tunnel I had cleared to drain the volcano. In this situation, whilst still being unable to build constructions, the 'choose your material screen' displayed abnormal numbers for both distance and quantity of materials, rather than flat out stating that no materials could be found.
Additional InformationWhilst I have this consistently occur across two saves now, the bug is not consistent on one map; squares next door to each other and identical in every way may share nothing in terms of pathability. If I were to guess at exactly why this was, I would say it might be something to do whether the squares dried naturally or drained off to below, but I am not sure.

Additionally, here is my current save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6522. The bug is occurring just below the stairs in the middle of the volcano.

I solved a similar problem on the forums:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=111361.msg3379537#msg3379537

Turns out that the problem is that with Temperature:OFF set in the d_init.txt options, the obsidian area remains at magma temperatures, which since v0.34.11 means that dwarves won't path into it.

Turning temperature back on fixes the problem, but this may still be a bug since it makes obsidian farming impossible with temperature turned off.

Reminder sent to: Syreniac

Did you have TEMPERATURE:OFF in init.txt? If not, this is is probably 0001272.

Another save, if you want it: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6818

The affected area was briefly flooded with magma while I attempted to rescue a pet from inside the magma (it was just sitting in the top level of magma). I had temperature turned off to save on FPS, and eventually the magma all... dried up? Evaporated? whatever. Later I turned temperature on in order to put the pet out of his misery -- after all, it surely gets lonely being the only naked mole dog in the hot tub -- and the otherwise-normal grass caught fire where it had been magma'd previously.

tl;dr Magma increases tile temperature even with [TEMPERATURE:OFF] and thus can cause pathing problems, since the temp never resets in this case.

I have [TEMPERATURE:ON], and constructed a magma defense system for my fortress. Once the magma evaporated, dwarves will not path through the area for any reason. This is a major problem.

Marking as duplicate of 0001272 since this seems independent of the TEMPERATURE flag.
