Summary0006082: Only one dwarf is hauling stone. (With lots of other idle dwarfs around.)
Descriptionhttp://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab112/maximemoring/haulingbug.jpg

Only one dwarf seems to want to haul. There are at least 4 idle dwarfs (6 in the image) and none of them even goes to haul stone or minerals; but they do for wood and gems, which makes it even wierder. I have crafted an extra wheelbarrow just in case they would only want to haul with one, but it doesn't seem to make them haul the stone. I made sure every of them had the hauling labor enabled.
The game is in it's pretty early states; I had just started playing. (Maximum 2h into the game)
I think you should understand if you see the image linked above.

Do you have multiple wheelbarrows assigned to the stockpile in question? If there's wheelbarrows on a stockpile, no dwarf will haul for that pile unless he can grab a wheelbarrow assigned to it.

I can confirm that changing the wheelbarrow assignment from 1 to 0 means all idle dwarves will suddenly starting (slowly) hauling stone to a stockpile that previously only had one job active at a time.

This also cause hauler to drop a container on the spot after picking item(s), if he don't use assigned wheelbarrow.
A task of collecting in a container is not affected by the presence of wheelbarrows, while the return of the container is.

I am having the same problem, I have never encountered this problem before. My stockpile options wheelbarrow : 3 , my "a/t/g" options are default, meaning anyone can stock stone (it's a stone stockpile) and/or take stone from it. I purposefully crashed the game to avoid saving a bad scenario, and that's when I started having problems. I have deleted and re-created my stone stockpile, I only create 3 x 10 or 10 x 3 sized stockpiles with 3 Wheelbarrows that's still 27 spots for my dwarves to put stone in, so it's not the stockpile size. funny thing is there are still 2 or 3 dwarves that "trickle" down to the stone that needs to be gathered, yet previously these stockpiles worked fine before.

I have noticed this problem as well - Even if I have 60 dwarves, with HALF OR MORE idle, and several extra wheelbarrows, stone hauling is very very slow. I do not know for sure, but it seems like only one dwarf is doing it at any given time, unless I designate a new pile, in which case each dwarf will haul one rock and then quit. Sometimes designating stone for dumping will get them to move faster, but this only seemed to work the first time I tried.

You stated you crafted an extra wheelbarrow; did you also change the stockpile setting to *use* the extra wheelbarrow or is it just sitting in the stockpile? If any wheelbarrows (1 to 3 per stockpile) are in use, it will *only* allow that number to be used, no matter how many idle dwarfs are available. If changing this number seems to solve your problem, please update the bug report.

If anyone has a save showing this problem, please compress (.zip) your DF/data/save/region folder, upload it to http://dffd.wimbi.com and post a link here. Otherwise, this report will be closed as it appears to be a wheelbarrow designation misunderstanding.

A month with no follow-up, so I'm closing this. If, in the future, it is found to not be a wheelbarrow/designation misunderstanding, please reopen this report and post a link to a save demonstrating the problem.
