| Description | Apparently, dogs that are already somebody's pets can not be trained as war animals anymore. Maybe it's not a bug, but it doesn't really make sense either. | ||||

This has always been the case. Not a bug, as far as I know. |

Yeah they never could be trained. |

In 40d I remember quite clearly, that pet dogs could be trained as war dogs. And war dogs could become pets. Neither happens anymore. |

Try 40d again. You may be getting confused by the fact that, when you assign a war dog to a dwarf, it acts like a pet, i.e. the dwarf will get "lost a pet to tragedy" thoughts if the dog dies. |
