Climbing skill is gained by attempting grab reactions. If you fall down near a grabbable surface, you can try to hold on to it and that increases skill. Still seems kind of weird that just climbing gets no skill increase at all. |

AFAIK, climbing trees does not increase climbing skill deliberately. |

(40.19) This does look intentional. Climbing block walls does increase the skill by 5 points. Trying to grab block walls while "In flight" increases it by 10, trying to grab anything else increases it by 5. |

It's one of the slow skills to grind. Unlike swimming you have to press a bunch of different keys to get it to increase. ;) |
