Summary | 0006741: Turkey Eggs won't hatch
Description | Turkeys eggs won't hatch - they've been laid and they are sitting in nestboxes in a locked room. Turkeys seem to be sitting on the boxes, which I don't always seem to do. I have had an activity zone on, and I've taken the zone off the locked room. Turkeys are a regular embark item in my fortress so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.
Steps To Reproduce | Embark with Turkeys. Lock them in a room with nest boxes. Wait for the eggs to hatch.

Turkey eggs have hatched in a different fortress, but they are only hatching very intermittently. The same behavior as above is seen still: no hatching either in locked room or with eggs forbidden and with turkeys - also seen with geese, now - just sitting on the eggs. |

This is probably another facet of the animal-must-be-willing-to-marry breeding bug (0008815) that made 25% of animals sterile. Note that some 5% of animals are still unwilling to reproduce in the current version, so embarking with multiple females and males is recommended if breeding is essential to your fortress. |
