| Summary | 0007207: Farms only display for planting what is available in the current season for all seasons. | ||||
| Description | I recall in old versions, if one was at the farm deciding what one wanted to be planted at the beginning of what season, one could go season by season, choosing a for spring, b for summer, and so on. You can still do that, but now it only displays for ALL seasons what's CURRENTLY plantable in the current season. So, for example, in a season where only two things are available, winter, which has dimple cups and plump helmets, scrolling through the seasonal planting list ONLY allows you to select those two things for ANY season. The flip side of this is that in seasons where six things are available, you can select them for any season, but then if you don't know your plants by heart you accidentally have things planted whose seeds will then disappear as the season changes. The latter is an inconvenience, as one can get around it by simply knowing one's plants really well. The former, however, is troublesome because it makes it so you can't plan your plantings long-term generally (unless you are in a season where what you want to plan to have planted is already plantable). | ||||

Further info, making this a more major detriment. Dwarves WILL plant seeds designated for a given plot regardless of when they are currently plantable, and if it's not a season for those plants they will immediately disappear. Example: in some other season, I had designated one of the plots to have Pig Tail in all four seasons. Pig Tail is not plantable in Winter, however (remember that this bug allowed me to select it, though). It seems that it is still on queue for planting Pig Tail in this plot in Winter, because it is winter and my dwarves are grabbing Pig Tail seeds and planting them in the plot. As usual, as the dwarf plants the seed the seed is found in the plot as though it were a building and had an item for a task. Because it is not the season for Pig Tail, however, the seeds immediately disappear at the completion of the planting task, and the plot is not any more 'seeded' than before the dwarf began. |

Oh! I looked at the 'already been fixed' thing and it seems my later note is pertinent, because it can affect actual farming. For what it's worth. Because they waste all your seeds and their time. |
