Summary | 0007384: Able to claim site for yourself, while just talking to deity
Description | While trying to create dwarf adventurer, I spawned in unconnected part of the fortress. That part of fortress had no NPCs. Not able to do anything I tried to start conversation with deity (god of darkness, btw). Then I selected the "claim site for yourself" dialog option, and a new screen appeared, where I could set the group name. Then I retired the adventurer. In the Legends mode there was line, that character successfully became lord. Then I reclaimed that fortress, the game showed then adventurer-dwarf became lord, and the game crashed.
Steps To Reproduce | - Create adventurer with background with deity - Talk to deity, claim site - Retire adventurer

The fact that you can claim a site for yourself even when there's nobody else around is to my knowledge working as intended. The crash would be a bug, though. |

Well, here are several bugs: - adventurer spawned w/o access to the surface (and could not travel) - worldgen fortress has rooms w/ no access to surface - claim site, when no one can acknowledge your right to rule - game crash, when un-retire fortress with such "self-proclaimed lord" |

Don't think so: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/dev_2013.html#2013-12-12 "In order to make a claim, you have to tell somebody else about it, since an entity can't just exist in your own mind (although there might be reasons for something like that later, to establish rules for retired hermits in a ruin or something)." |
