Might be related: In adventure mode, NPCs often try to grab (climb?) a wall, followed by massive "NPC lost hold of the wall" spam.

Might this just be intended behavior now?
Climbing is a thing, after all. Your dwarf mighta just figured it out.

Fine if dwarves do it. Less fine if goblins work out how.

They don't just climb walls laterally; they will also go straight up. To demonstrate this, dig a pit by designating ramps in a section, and then another layer below that. Once that's all been dug out remove the slopes. The dwarves will ponder being stuck in the pit for a while, then will just scale the walls and climb right out.

I was going to test this with goblins, but there's a problem with them not being pittable at the moment.

Well, all creatures are supposed to be able to climb to a degree, so...

You don't need pitting to test it - it can be done with cage release at the bottom of a locked room with a suitable opening in the ceiling.

I look forwards to the day when we can put weapon traps on walls, if that's ever going to happen. :D

Good point Amena - I was just wondering idly about goblins there, but I happened to have a spare goblin or two lying around, so I tried this out.

Turns out goblins do climb out of pits. That probably warrants a bug report of its own!
