Summary | 0008119: Crossbow dwarves don't always fill quivers before starting patrol
Description | Crossbowdwarves don't always fill their quivers before starting a patrol route. In addition, sometimes they can get stuck on a patrol route, stationing themselves near an enemy as if firing even despite having an empty quiver.
Steps To Reproduce | Just set up a marksdwarf patrol.
Additional Information | Especially annoying is how, if equipped with an already-empty quiver, they can get stuck staring blankly at the enemy.

Does "starting a patrol route" mean they're on or off duty before starting it? Do any of 0001374's related reports cover it? There are a lot of reasons they might not pick up ammo. |
|
It means they're headed to the patrol route from wherever. I don't see that any of those reasons listed at 1374 cover it. I have plenty of bolts, both metal and wood (over 1000 total). Sometimes they pick them up on the way up to the patrol route (on top of the wall). Sometimes they don't. Sometimes they run out of bolts and go get more. Sometimes they run out of bolts and keep patrolling, sometimes they run out of bolts and sit there as if stuck, unable to fire or move until deactivated. |

It was difficult to reproduce, but I think this should do it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/17o3zrqleikf1dd/Gearedsquare.zip?dl=0 Marksdwarves in question are at the south east of the top wall layer. Just look for the ones that have empty quivers and are going to the patrol route. I THINK the ones you're looking for are Storaga, walking around the inside of the south wall... and Chonine, stuck on top of the wall in place without bolts, while she's supposed to be patrolling. |
