Summary | 0000820: Arriving caravan that has no access to depot totally grinds the game to dust.
Description | I was expanding my outside walls and built around my Depot entrance so I could redo the traps there in safety. A caravan arrives and now my dwarves are incapable of so much as walking across two empty tiles.
Steps To Reproduce | Build a depot that has access to the edge of the map, one that a caravan can reach. Build a wall around it. Watch in amusement as the caravan sitting at the edge of the map causes your own dwarves to loose the ability to MOVE.

Save reload doesn't help. dwarves become incapable of pathing to and removing constructed walls IN THE NEXT TILE. That's another fort utterly ruined, huzzah. If I do make an opening in the wall, which after over twenty save/reloads I managed to do, the caravan sits on the edge of the map doing nothing and all my dwarves loose the ability to go up or down stairs, run out into the wilderness to drink from the river and they die. Wonderful. |
In that case, it might be helpful for you to upload a save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ |

I found a way to solve the problem. Every single creature in the game is now aquatic, apart from water creatures, who now breathe air. |
Wait, was making every creature aquatic the problem, or the solution? |
I think what he means is he made them ALL aquatic so that they could path through some water that must've been in the way of his depot...? |
I made everything that wasn't a dwarf aquatic, and it died in seconds. Solved the pathfinding problem because they didn't need to go anywhere, except into the refuse pit. All the formerly water breathing creatures who tragically drowned were sadly collateral damage. (The water was no where near the caravan and was not causing problems with the pathfinding.) Seriously though, it's worth noting that it is a crude way of dealing with the issue. It also makes you feel better. |

Has this bug been observed in 31.03? |
Looks like this one is dead and buried. Got a caravan sitting outside my fort with no way in, everyone in my fort is doing fine, using stairs and everything. |
Alrighty. As always, you can reopen this if the bug shows up again. |
