Summary | 0008357: Worldgen dwarves use body parts of creatures that CAN_LEARN / CAN_SPEAK
Description | Worldgen forts can contain butchered troll parts, as well as armor, clothing and crafts from trolls, gorlaks and gremlins. Dwarven ethics should prevent this. This save is for a reclaimed worldgen fort where troll meat is present in a food stockpile, and various items made from troll and gorlak parts can be found in bedrooms and stock areas. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9795
Steps To Reproduce | Create a world with dwarven civs. Create an adventurer in a fortress. Look at the contents of cabinets and the trade depot.
Additional Information | Back in .40.06 I encountered an elven civ whose only apparent trade good was, amusingly, gremlin leather headgear. This may not conflict with elven ethics, though it is pretty unlikely that elves and gremlins ever come into contact with one another. I unfortunately don't have a save demonstrating this, though I think it's worth noting here anyway.

Dwarf Ethics do not prevent it because all those things are considered to be animals. The answer is to give all those creatures the Intelligent trait. |
|
Goblin Cookie: All three of the creatures referenced in this report have [CAN_LEARN], and two of them have [CAN_SPEAK]. The prefstring for gorlaks even refers to their "stimulating conversation" or something like that. For this reason they're all unbutcherable in fort mode, and were unbutcherable in adventure mode prior to .40, the same as animal people. While there are tricks in fort mode to use their bones for crafting, it's incredibly implausible that civs are applying these tricks during worldgen, much less on an industrial scale. There is no way that I'm aware of to acquire meat or leather from them in fort mode. |

I was pointing out the probably reason why they are being butchered; I have noticed it and found it irritating too. World gen obviously does not consider entities without the Intelligent trait as off limits for butchering. I was suggesting a fix for the OP. If it annoys then give them all the Intelligent trait. |
