Summary | 0008496: Trapped wild animals can't be slaughtered
Description | hi all, not sure it's really a bug: somehow my dwarves managed to cage a male and a female rhinoceros it seems i can try to tame them, even as war pets (if you except the fact that sooner or later they'd make a massacre in the fort) but they've been enlisted for butchering since i noticed them but they were never slaughtered... is it a feature or a bug? if you wish i can upload the savegame

Do you have a butcher's shop and a dwarf with the Butchering labor enabled? You may also need to enable Animal Hauling. If that doesn't explain it, please upload a save that reproduces the problem to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ and post the link here. |

Wild animals cannot be slaughtered. Schedule the rhinos for training first, then slaughter. You can also just leave them untrained in their cages--when they eventually die of old age they should be butchered automatically. (This only works for wild animals; tame and trained animals must be slaughtered to be butchered.) |
