Summary | 0008507: Trade depot disabled while caravan is unloading
Description | The dwarven caravan was inbound and I had ordered a number of items to be hauled to the trade depot. While the caravan was inbound, or possibly even after it had started unloading, a Giantess attacked. I activated the civilian access burrow, which should have no effect whatsoever on the trade depot or the hauling of items to it, as everyting is within the burrow. After the giantess was killed (which didn't take long, since a lucky crossbowman attacked it rather than moving to station), I disabled the civilian alert and checked on the trade depot hauling progress. The trade depot claimed no trading was going on, and all trade depot hauling jobs had disappeared. Graphically, the caravan was still moving into the depot, however. I had not done anything to restrict the trade depot access during the action (I intended to try to get civilians to safety first), and the giantess had not attacked anything except the crossbowman. During parts of the process the broker was reported as being unable to access the trade depot due to the standing on the wrong side when erecting a wall. However, the trade depot remains unaccessible even after the broker is freed.

I've tried to nail it down, and it definitely is triggered by the appearance of a monster (titan, minotaur, giant seen so far). Very shortly after the monster appearance announcement the trade depot silently no longer is available for trade (goods transfer, as it never reached the trade status), and the traders turn around and leave the safety of the fortress to brave the monster. Locking the gate and eliminating the monster does not help: the ungrateful buggers want to leave anyway. As indicated, the issue is repeatable from the saves I have. It seems there is a trigger that says a monster is due to appear, and at that time (or very close to it) something appears. |
|
I suspect the cause of the traders leaving is sentient remains on the refuse stockpile, so this report can probably be scrapped. |

Thanks! Feel free to reopen this report if you determine that something else is causing the issue (or if removing the remains doesn't work). |
