Summary0008559: False positive on 'depot accessible' with path above ground level
DescriptionIf you build a 3 wide floor path to the edge of the map above the ground an above ground trade depot will register as 'depot accessible'. However when traders arrive their caravan will bypass your inaccessible site.
Steps To Reproduce* Build platform one z level up in the air
* Build trade depot on platform
* Build 3-wide path from platform to edge of map
* Press 'D'
Additional InformationSave file not included, because reproducing this glitch is pretty trivial.

Interestingly, although the caravan won't arrive in mid air the merchants and horses will willingly leave via the floating path.

A save would be helpful - it may be trivial to reproduce with a save, but it can take considerable time for a caravan to actually arrive.

I would have thought that the bug is not that caravans find the site inaccessible, but that the trade depot is shown as accessible. That doesn't actually require a caravan to arrive. I'm pretty sure it is quicker to build a test case than to download a file from DFFD.

I will upload a save, though.

[EDIT] Huh, in an unexpected turn around the caravan this year happily turned up via a mid-air pathway. The same pathway it failed to turn up on previously.

Saved on the 8th, caravan arrives on around the 12th. Caravan bypasses inaccessible site.

I think abandoning a fortress and reclaiming it causes the difference in behavior. In new fortresses caravans find mid-air access impossible. In reclaimed fortresses they can use them.

I've noticed that were-monsters can arrive on the leaves of trees at the edge of the map - after a fortress has been reclaimed. I suspect that they only arrive on ground level in new fortresses.
