Given the poor quality of your description, I doubt that anyone will be able to find a bug. Recently the game has added world history advancement during play that did not previously exist. I have seen some irregular slow downs that might be explained by the world history process, but can not be clearly tied to anything. Perhaps Toady will consider making that process into something that can be calculated over many frames or even reentrantly over a span of frames that comprise a season.

Did you:
- Explore the caverns
- Get a ton of migrants
- Experience a baby boom
- Lower the priority in init.txt
- Copy over the save from another version
- Change any system software/hardware settings to do with processing and clocking
- Start a bunch of background programs
- Experience the drop mid-game, or right after loading the save?

Also, the embark size on your fort is crazy ass big. Embark sizes have an enormous impact on your FPS.

It is also possible that a virus is slowing down the CPU. Do you have routine virus scans running?

Finally, a bug with pathing currently causes massive FPS drops when HFS is released, and then walled off. Did you do that?

other questions:
In which version did you make this world?
In which version did you make fortress?
Have you played any other fortresses/adventurers in this world? If so, does load of other save files keep fps still down?
Also, what are announcements and so saying? Do you see there any "interesting" messages?

idea to try:
Save your save file and try to make a new world, keeping all settings (size of world, size of embark size, history length) on low values. Is it still slow? If yes, I would guess it is probably rather in your computer than DF itself because early game in small world should not be too much demanding on system resources.

P.S.: There is http://dffd.wimbli.com/ site for upload of save files and other DF related stuff.

In my current fort I get huge FPS drops from animals trying to path through pet-unpassable doors.
It is a reclaimed fort from worldgen and all its doors were initially set to tightly-closed. When any animal runs into such a door, it apparently starts spamming pathing requests, and my FPS immediately drops from 100 to <20.

Check if this is not the case in your fort.
