Summary0008711: The escape key only works within sub menus. It is impossible to get to the save game / abandon fort / macro / etc menu.
DescriptionEscape doesn't work at all while the game is running. I can't save my current fort, or get to that menu. Strangely enough, I can escape from any sub menu. FOr example, if I hit b - w - c , it opens up the build carpenter workshop selection, and then if I hit escape three times I'm back at the standard screen, but any further escapes result in nothing.
Steps To ReproduceI can't reproduce it because I'm unable to save the game because the escape key isn't functional while the game is running. Unable to get to the menu that says save/abandon/etc.

I tried putting windows to sleep and waking it up a couple of times to see if that had any effect. Nope.

Please open data/init/interface.txt and find the line beginning with [BIND:OPTIONS . It should be early in the file. What does that line and the one following say?

Are you using a graphics set?

I'm using phoebus. Here's the lines:

[BIND:OPTIONS:REPEAT_NOT]
[SYM:0:ESC]

I checked the file in the vanilla df zip and those lines are the same. This bug is very odd. I've played frequently since the 40d days, and I've never experienced anything similar. Earlier in the day I experienced my first crash in a couple of months. After that I was saving very frequently. Maybe that has some connection.

Weird. The binding works for me without problems, though I'm on Linux. Does the problem occur in a vanilla install?

I don't know. I spent a couple of hours playing without it happening. I'll try to reproduce it later today. edit: I've had no luck at recreating it. I tried saving and reloading a bunch of times, and now the game is a few migrant waves past where it happened yesterday.

All right, please reopen this report if this is reproducible (or PM me/another manager on the forums).
