Summary0009035: DF crashes seconds after resumed play
Description5 seconds or so after this save is loaded and play is resumed DF crashes.
Steps To ReproduceLoad the save and resume play.
Additional InformationSave uploaded to http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11025

Fortress started with PyLNP r14, which uses DF 0.40.24. I'm using the Phoebus tile set, Announcement Filter, Dwarf Therapist, and DFHack Pure Bugfixes.

Starting the save with vanilla DF still crashes after a few seconds (I.e. the same place). I've tried to remove the construction of roads (in case of conflict with growing trees) and disabling all jobs I could get my hands on, but it still crashes at the same place.
As far as I know I haven't done anything unusual. I've changed the militia from wearing uniform over clothing to replace clothing recently, but changing it back won't avert the crash. Dwarf Therapist has not been used to change any settings recently, nor have I used and DFHack commands.

I have loaded this save in vanilla 0.40.24. Twice. I moved to ground level and waited from 12th to 15th Slate. No crashing occurred.

Btw. there is no need to upload your whole "save" folder. Just the folder with given fort/adventurer is enough, which is titled "region1", "region2"... by default.

Thanks for checking. It still crashes for me even when I try to move to the ground level (which I think I've tried before). It must be some kind of issue particular to my computer, rather than within DF itself, then.

I'd change the status of this report to "not repeatable" or some such status where things are archived.

Save folder notice noted. I'll follow the advice in the future.

I am using Ubuntu so the crashing/not crashing may be maybe somewhere in different platforms or print mode used ("2D" here).

I've done some additional fault finding:
- It crashes the same way on my old computer running Windows 7.
- It did not crash at that location on my much older computer running Windows XP Professional (I let it run for half a minute or so). I tried to bring that save back, but it crashed within a few seconds as well.
- I just changed Print Mode from TWBT to 2D with PyLNP, but it still crashes at the same location.

I'll continue to see if I can salvage the game, if nothing else by running on the very old computer. Are any results of interest to you, or is it just another non DF caused incompatibility issue?

Edit:
I tried running Ubuntu in a virtual machine and ran DF from there. It still went belly up at about the same time as on native Windows.

Edit 2:
I've installed Ubuntu as multi boot on my main computer, and DF still crashes at the same place (segmentation fault). I failed to get DF to start from LNP, but command line start worked to start DF up. I've tried with Phoebus+TWBT, Phoebus+2D, and ASCII+2D (all changes done via PyLNP), and all of them crash after a few seconds after play is resumed. I haven't tried anything except my save, though.
My conclusion is that it is a hardware issue rather than an OS one.

Just lost another fortress to what looks like the same problem. The save crashes within seconds on my main computer, but runs (very slowly) on my very old 32 bit XP one.
I suspect it's a 32/64 bit issue.
I can upload the save and do some fault finding with the 3 computers I have available if you're interested.

If you upload it I will try it. If it doesn't crash for me again I would advise at looking at platform issues. I am 32b Linux Ubuntu.

I don't think this could be a 32/64 bit issue as DF is a 32bit app. I did however download your save file and test it out on windows 7 64bit and it did not crash. I would check your versions of any 3rd party tools ( DFHack, armok vision etc.)

However I have seen some others on the forums and on IRC that report crashes not related to other known bugs ( building on trees ). Can you post your CPU type as i'm curious if this could be an obscure microcode bug with some Intel CPU's.

TEST SYSTEM
--------------
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64bit
RAM: 8GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60Ghz

DF: df_40_24_win SDL
DFHack: 0.40.24-r3
TWBT: 5.45
TILESET: NONE

I tested this on my system and was unable to reproduce using:

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64
Intel Core i5 2410M @ 2.3GHz

Sorry for a late answer. For some reason the report was not reported as updated when I checked back for updates.

The CPU is an Intel Core i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz. If it's of interest I can get the older computer it also crashes on going to check the CPU specs (just requires moving devices to it).

When I tried to isolate the problem I ran DF both with DT and DFHack and without both of them with crashes regardless of whether tools were used.
