In two worlds I play which were genned using .42.06, Legends mode reveals that all vampire curses were performed by human deities. Just an additional/confirming data point; worlds available for upload if needed. |

Here's the reason why this happens: in order to be cursed, a creature must profane the temple of a particular god. Since only human civs currently build temples during world-gen, the only way to get cursed in world-gen is to profane a human god's temple. |

Has this changed since 40.24? We had lots of vampires back then. A couple of test worlds show that you're right though. The only cursed dwarves around tend to be from bandit groups linked to human civs. I do have a save in a modded game in which the Dwarf Goddess of Hospitality, Tom, cursed some dwarves (and others) proving that it's possible. Further investigation reveals that she has large number of city building Minotaur followers too for some reason who built all her temples. |
