Hmmm, I tracked down the nearest vamp, bled them out, filled a waterskin and goblet up.

Gave the goblet to a dorf in another building, they drank it and checking the tell a story > person/creature I confirmed that they were now a vampire.

I then went to another building to find a sleeping dorf and confirmed I became one after drinking the blood too.

Note that the aqua sense creature icons are from my mod, which overrides the vampire sense creature color.

I tried all over again, and still nothing. Still no vampire.

Which version are you on?

I have an unmodded 0.43.02 version on PC, windows 7

The whole drinking blood thing worked for me, too.

This is a long-standing issue, going back to at least 40.24. For some unknown reason, certain vampires (including, it seems, all roving animal men) have non-vampiric blood. Regrettably little science has been done on the matter, but it seems to be linked to world-age: The younger the world, the more likely a vampire's blood is to be vampiric.

That was in a 300 or so year old world as I recall, on 43.02, but yeah I've noticed that certain vampires (the roving animal men as mentioned above especially) don't have infectious blood.

Even though it is a newer report, let's keep the non-rampage portion under 0010321 so that we can have one bug per report. I'll edit this report to be about the blood.

This is still around, i have genned multiple 1050 year old worlds and drank vampire blood in each, and did not become a vampire.

Heres the save it happened in:
(which also has other bugs, such as one where i confronted the vampire and it credited the confrontation to a random kobold)
