| Description | I removed an axle directly underneath a windmill (because I forgot to dig out the floor), then later when I came to replace the axle, I found the windmill had vanished. I assume the two are related (that somehow removing the attached axle removed the windmill too) | ||||

Not really a bug - present in the last version. Read http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/40d:Windmill for more information. For the gist of it, the only part of the windmill that really matters for support is the centre tile, and the machine components beneath it provide that support - deconstructing that axle removed the support of the windmill. |
