Summary | 0010188: Game stops responding upon opening a save
Description | While opening a save file to continue my fortress, the game suddenly stopped responding. This would usually be normal, but I got a notification from windows saying the program was not responding. It told me to close it, and I did. After getting this result multiple times, I moved to adventure mode, started a new campaign, and after my character wandered around for about two minutes, it stopped responding and I got the same notification.
Steps To Reproduce | Start a new game. Then save the game and shut off computer (if you close the game then reopen it it will still work). It took me multiple save opens before it stops responding, so you may have to do it a couple of times.

You'll have to post your save for someone to look at. If this were really so easy to reproduce as 'save your game'>'reload'>'game is now broken' the forum would be in uproar by now. I shut down my PC after evening DF sessions pretty much every time. Are you using any mods? TWBT will most likely crash your Adventurer games. |
I am using a texture pack. I believe the crash may be in part to my very large history. I deleted the old save started a new world with just large. If it happens again I will submit the file. |
Are you using TwbT, specifically? This sounds like some recent TwbT crashes that have been reported on the forums. |
I suspect that this might just be the game hanging and not responding to the OS while it's loading. Try keeping the game open and waiting the next time the "not responding" message appears. I suspect that it will load normally after a while. |
What version of Windows are you running? How much RAM do you have? Windows may complain about programs "not responding" when resources are low. |
