This is typically caused by the scroll being marked as being merchant owned. Clearing the merchant flag using DFHack tends to make scrolls available. It may also be that the flag is cleared automatically by DF after an inconveniently long time. |

This save has lots stuck near the river on the left edge, one on level -5 in an armour stockpile and one in the upper barracks. Some of the books worked fine for example a necro book forbidden in the upper barracks and other tower related books in the library, while some got bugged and don't even appear in the stocks screen. http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13281 This is a save imported from 43.05 |

Two scrolls seem to be stuck in this save from 44.10. They're in the main entrance with the cage traps. I've tried lots of ways to shift them which work for other stuff but they seem immovable. http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13769 (Ignore the horde of zombies, they're suffering from another bug and will take a while to get to the fortress). |

@Shonai_Dweller: Both books have the Trader flag set. Clearing the flag (with DFHack), causes them to immediately (i.e. within seconds of resuming) to be TSK:ed for hauling. Thus, the issue is the standard one, which I see a lot (and I run a DFHack script of mine regularly to clear flags on books/scrolls/quires/codices lying on the ground to work around that issue). As an aside, you don't need to upload the whole "save" folder: the save is the regionX (where X is 1 in your case) folder. Edit: I thought I had commented 0010759 as well, but apparently not. I investigated that save as well, it it was the same issue, i.e. the "Trader" flag being set. |

I note that the request for a save demonstrating this bug was actually made after your comment regarding it being the 'trader flag' so I linked to this save too since it was already on dffd, no wasted space if it's not needed. I don't know the reason why the trader flag is being incorrectly marked on some scrolls and I have no idea if Toady does either and have no idea if a single save from an old version can help him see the cause. No harm in linking to another one from the current version, is there? If there is some clearer bug tracker instructions are probably needed. |

@Shonai_Dweller: My comment wasn't intended as criticism of you linking a save as had been requested, only a comment on looking at it, so I apologize if it was seen as criticism. I'm not aware of anything discouraging cross linking of saves (saves on save space, if nothing else). My thought on doing that is that it's probably good if it's mentioned in the cross linking places to avoid head scratching when downloading a save you're sure you've looked at before, and even avoid the re-downloading and re-analysis part entirely. |
