Summary | 0010554: lil' bastards lazing (on a sunny afternoon)
Description | Let the traders go without trading for a couple of years. Got about 40 (of 200) idling dwarfes (step by step) Workshops did not get cleand up anymore, minecarts did not get filled, etc. Things got messy. FPS 7/7 (100/20) Did some trading this year. After hauling tradegoods, the dwarfes manually carried the mincarts arround and put them back on tracks again, cleaned the workshops, etc. Number of dwarfes idling now: 5 (thumbs up). FPS now 7/7 (100/20) Whatever happened ... it should happen more often and not depend on trading.
Additional Information | Past seasons only 1 out of 10 hunters acually did hunt. Num. crossbows: 60. Num bone bolts: 500. Labour hunting enabled, troglodytes, elk birds and boars on the map. Maybe now the hunters will regularly hunt again? Or is their (auto) activity bound to the number of meals/meat somehow?

Reminder sent to: dffun Do you have a save where the dwarves are stuck in idle mode? If so, please upload it to the DFFD and post a link to it here. Also, you are running an older version. If you load a copy of the save in 0.44.05, does the problem persist? |
Sry. Stopped backups after compressed(!) zips of single saves exeeded 100MB (old notebook small disk). Will try to reproduce the situation, which might take some time and upload file then. Besides: Is there something like a "save-file-cleaner"? Or analyzer? |
Dwarves with "No Job" in the current version generally indicate either 1) they are unable to access your locations (tavern, temple, library) or 2) they are repeatedly taking and immediately canceling some impossible jobs (hauling logs outside of burrows, etc.). |
I have a 44.07 save http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13601 < here that seems to be suffering from the same problem. A detailed description of the individual issues is on that page. I haven't traded anything in quite some time, so I don't think that this is in any way related to trading. Edit: I've discovered that *all* of the problems I had in the above save were due to stockpile configuration problems. |

@latias1290 They are all aggressively socializing, even though they all have maxed out needs and are completely "Unfettered" on all tavern related categories. 0010646 pertains to the topic of zone favoritism or prioritization wherein you can't get dwarves to visit, linked to 0010129 where meeting zones & locations clash, this is a classic case of this. To fix i disabled the meeting hall table (which puts a enforced meeting zone) and installed a meeting-zoneless area. Put your tavern separate of meeting zones entirely or dwarves will become stuck. Simple act of setting a floorspace meeting zone, attaching a location (your tavern the golden ale) and then while paused, and removing the meeting designation from the zone so it was only set to 'active', dwarves were actually visiting the meeting hall to idle, but the tavern location was aggressively making them socialize waiting for the next tavern activity like a story, singing & dancing, causing them to never fulfill jobs. 7 idle dwarves immediately raised to 45 idle dwarves and started decreasing as they did jobs again for those who didn't actually need to visit the tavern being released, those genuinely socializing are continuing doing what they are doing. |
To summarise, dwarves with no job idling suddenly being tasked to do a locations activity by virtue of standing in the zone and socialising/worshipping which is a active job will do that job over a real job task, much in the way you can't interrupt them sleeping or eating very much. Edit - your currently blocked brewing & refuse hauling into your underground refuse pile to the side of your meeting hall jobs were not seemingly linked to incorrect stockpile configurations, those were genuine blocked jobs as your issue report outset explains that they were left to rot & dwarves getting thirsty. |
