Summary | 0011017: Frigid world: Invaders arrived and instantly died at edge of map (frozen)
Description | I've made a medium regional map with the advanced settings. The map is almost all tundra and glaciers with a small band of moderate temperatures in the middle. There are no more Dwarfs but the Dwarfs civ's are dying. So I decided to embark and make my last dwarven stand in a tundra surrounded volcano. The problem is that the first Goblin invasion I received just instantly died at the edge of the map. The closest goblin pit is at a days journey. So not to far. With the DFhack deathcause script their is no apparent cause. The goblin ngom kutsmobslusp died in year 713 (cause: none). The goblin snang axodukge died in year 713 (cause: none). The goblin dostngosp kutsmobsmob died in year 713 (cause: none). The goblin asno osmosponga died in year 713 (cause: none).

Update: a second wave arrived. goblins beak dogs and Trolls. All D.O.A. except for a single Goblin who retreated. Save game is when I got the second siege announcement. |

You missed to actually submit the save game, so nobody can investigate the issue. |

I sent a squad to a neighboring tower. Two of my dwarfs survived and came back. But they came back DOA. But this time they have a cause of death: COLD. The dwarf urvad nanirnish died in year 713 (cause: cold). The dwarf fath bebmalral died in year 713 (cause: cold). |

I'm guessing that your custom map settings dropped temperatures low enough that most creatures cannot survive outside for very long. Perhaps the army movement code is applying these temperatures for the duration of travel, but the results are not fatal until the creature sets foot on-site? Disabling temperature calculations caused the remainder of the invading to force to arrive alive. |
