Summary | 0011128: Animals that bleed to death cannot be butchered.
Description | I was playing as a leopard woman, and I killed a weasel by wounding it until it bled out. I got a dagger when I could'nt butcher it, but it did not appear on the butcher menu. This also happened with a bluejay woman and an ibex.
Steps To Reproduce | Have an animal bleed out in adventure mode, try to butcher it. Get really annoyed as it does not appear on the butcher menu.

I do not get this problem. It may be that the creatures you killed were too small to butcher. I strangled, exsanguinated, decapitated, and crushed the heads of ibexes and weasels and it did not seem to have any effect. The ibexes were always butcherable and the weasels never were. |

The ibex was a kid, I think. Maybe ibex kids are too small to yield anything except a skull. |

Weasels are always too small to butcher (200cc). Ibexes should be large enough, even at birth (5,000cc). Sentient creatures like bluejay women are not butcherable due to ethics (even if you mod the ethics: 0009171). You can check if other creatures are large enough to butcher on the wiki: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Ibex Please upload a save demonstrating an unbutcherable ibex to DFFD ( http://dffd.bay12games.com/ ) and post a link to it here. |
