Description | I went into my abandoned fortress for an artifact platinum axe. Wouldn't you? It was still in the forge. When I take it out, there is one in my hand... and one in the workshop. I cannot get another one (still printing the text for picking it up, just no duplicate axe). When I came back to the site later, I was able to take out the axe again. The above behavior I noticed in the previous version as well with an artifact high boot. The below, I don't remember _noticing_ before, though since the other example was armor, hard to be sure. The REAL problem, though, is that whenever, however I try to take it offsite, it disappears. Just... gone. I was able to kick significant tail while on the site (I had broken into a cavern), but when I fast travel away... gone. When I come back, pick the axe back up, and WALK away... gone. One step, I'm armed with pure choppy death; the next, oh, my bronze shield is my primary weapon, and soon enough my "misc. object user" skill is on the rise. Not cool. | ||||

Yeah, as you noted, this is an old bug. Here's a collection of reports in older versions: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=40629.msg715042#msg715042 It doesn't sound like the symptoms have changed much, but it's good that it's in the tracker now. |

I've just examined this a bit more closely with an abandoned test fortress, and I've observed several significant problems. The artifact I've chosen is one of 2 artifacts stored inside a bin. For some reason, the artifact has not been "classified" (into the specialized item vectors used for job item selection), and while the bin has two "contains_item" general references (one for each artifact), the artifacts themselves do not have "contained_in_item" references pointing back to the bin in which they are stored. |

I've noticed that in the latest version the artifacts don't disappear from your inventory on travel. They still do several strange things, but I am able to travel the world with them now (so long as I don't try taking them off or dropping them or anything). |

Still is happening in 0.40.04, Slept on sight, and artifact helm and amulet disapeared. Artifacts where taken from workshops. |

I have left the site and I do still have those artifacts with me. Something got changed it seems. |

Question: what aspects of this are still present if the general "vanishing artifacts" bit is fixed? I'm guessing duplicate artifacts still randomly appear? |

Seems to hav been reported as happening in v50: 0012884 And from the old fan discord: "okey...I have yet another problem with probably no answer here or anywhere...I'm trying to get a necro slab that I packed onto my horse, but when I take it off, it sort of disappears and just reappears on the horse instantly...I can try to throw it after taking it from the horse, drop it, wield it, some of these result in a normal ground tile claiming the slab is there but without graphics...but the horse still has his version of the slab. If I kill the horse, the slab can be looked at on the tile with his corpse, but can't be picked up ... AH! I actually got through that bug! I "took" it from my horse, as in created a copy for myself, then fast travelled, then after two offloadings (though 1 might have been enough) only my copy still existed, and everything turned out perfect to the best of my ability to see." |
