Summary0001284: Some shops have their cash for sale
DescriptionSome adventure mode shops will have their stacks of coins listed among the items for sale. In these shops you can't do monetary transactions.

I have a save file where I'm in a shop with this problem, if such is needed.

Are you sure you didn't toggle the "Use Currency" option in a shop?

Oops, I might have, since it says "Not trading currency" in the lower left-hand corner. What key toggles it?

"asdfghjkl" -- the control scheme is utterly opaque but if you mash a few buttons a number should pop up. Anyway, I tried that and it didn't cause coins to appear in the shop's list of goods, so that doesn't seem to explain it.

Are the coins sitting in/on the shop's chest like usual, or are they with the other goods? Could they be coins you'd previously brought to the shop for trading?

Oh, those buttons work fine in shops that don't have the bug. The coins are in the shop's chest, and there's the standard 200 gold, 600 silver and 3,000 copper, so I'm pretty sure I didn't buy anything from her. Wait, actually, I can't use the "asdfghjkl" buttons to offer money for the food, so I'm sure I didn't. And I just tested out battering her a pile of my coins for some food: the stack of gold coins I dropped shows up in the shop's inventory like the coins she already had.

Odd... I wonder if this has to do with revisiting a site.

So, should I upload the save?

This still happens in 0.31.10 - had it show up in a weapon shop, making it impossible to purchase the exceptional bronze maul I wanted.

The adventure mode trade interface and functionality is being rewritten for the next version after 31.25, so this will most likely be fixed by that. I'll leave it open until then so it can be reviewed.

See Dev Log entry http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/index.html#2011-06-30 discussing the removal of the table/chest and tweak info.
