Summary | 0013049: Yak hair thread can be made but does not appear in stockpile filter options and seems not to be storeable at all
Description | I did a "prepare carefully" start and picked breeding pairs of various animals including yaks. They're quite useful. I slaughtered one later and it produced yak hair, among many other things. I spun that hair in my farmer's workshop (did some alpaca hair at the same time) and they both produced thread: "alpaca woll yarn", and "yak hair thread". The alpaca yarn got moved to my thread stockpile, while the yak yarn (or "thread") is stuck in the workshop. Also, under the Cloth > Thread/Yarn Stockpile filter, there is no entry for yak hair anything. There are only 4 entries there: - Alpaca wool yarn - Llama wool yarn - Sheep wool yarn - Troll fur yarn On a separate note, why is it so difficult to simply search the issue database by Summary or Description? That should be like the first thing a person sees on signing in. For all I know this issue has been reported multiple times already.

duplicate of | 0004132 | confirmed | spinners will use hair from refuse stockpile to make thread, but unable to use the thread for clothmaking |
|
The wiki has the following about hair: Hair is a byproduct of butchering some animals. It can be spun into thread at a farmer's workshop. Hair thread cannot be used to weave cloth, but it can be dyed and used to suture wounds in a hospital or bind books in a craftsdwarf's workshop. Google seems to confirm that no stockpiles any kind currently accept it. On top of that the behaviour that it can be spun into thread but not woven into cloth, is somewhat confusing. |
