| Summary | 0001541: Game saves corruption (solved by disabling save compression) | ||||
| Description | - Game saves are being corrupted everytime I exit the game. - It seems the issue is limited to Dwarf mode only. - Exiting to the main menu and reloading the game right away produces no problems. - Attempted to play with backups and seasonal saves, 8 out of 10 saves are being corrupted(initial save and first season are loadable). - Problem persists through different game worlds, so it's not site related. - Attempted to re-download, corruption still occurs. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Save the game and exit completely. Attempt to load a save game. | ||||
| Additional Information | I haven't seen any similar issues so it must be OS related (XP 64bit) or hardware related, though I don't see how this can happen. | ||||

What do you mean by 'corruption'? Do you mean that it crashes when you save? The current release frequently crashes on the 'Cleaning game objects' stage of saving, but since that happens after the data is saved, the save should remain intact. |
It crashes when I attempt to load the save game, with an error message: "One of the compressed files on disk has errors on it. Try restoring from backup". |
Hmm! I've never seen that error before. Maybe upload your corrupted save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ ? I don't know if a corrupted save is useful to toady or not. |
There is now an option for compressing save files in the init file and is on by default, try turning that off and it should fix that. |
Turned save compression off, and tried save/load several times. Works great, thanks alot for the help. Didn't imagine it'd be such a simple matter. |
This seems to crop up on 64-bit systems in particular. Nobody's sure why. |
