Summary | 0001547: Cave-ins can leave hanging down ramps in air
Description | Collapsing a caved-out section of surface can leave the down-ramps corresponding to the up-ramps that are collapsed away, hanging in the air.
Steps To Reproduce | * Channel out top section to leave a few random ramps scattered (perhaps optional) * Dig out area beneath these ramps * Build a support in the dug area, link it to a lever * Channel away remaining support around ceiling of dug out area * Pull lever to cause cavein. * Behold down ramps hanging in the air.

Not to mention its a leftover bug from 40D. |
Specifically: # 000472 □ [dwarf mode][constructions] collapsing a building/terrain can leave a line of floating downward ramp symbols |
Also, if you have a pond with sloping edges before the collapse, the pond will have 'sharp' edges (no ramps) after the collapse. [EDIT] Oh, and it appears that they can spontaneously 'cave in' long after they are first formed. Possibly when a flying creature passes through one of their tiles? It is obviously hard to confirm this, but there was a swan in the general area when a cave in triggered on the surface and there is one less floating 'down ramp'. [EDITx2] Yep, another just collapsed and there is swan blood at the scene and an injured swan nearby seems pretty clear. |
Here's a new one. It appears possible that saplings can grow on the floating down-ramps because I have a tree that starts in mid-air. |
Still present in DF 0.40.19 Note that the visible floating down-ramps can be removed by building a floor over them then removing the floor. I don't yet know if that completely removes all traces of them. Levitating tree save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=10257 The squares where levitating trees grow will continue to grow trees over time if the first is cut down. |
