Summary0001554: Items not getting dumped because of invisible, unremovable zones
DescriptionMy dwarves have ceased responding to dump orders, either indoors or outdoors. Forbidding and unforbidding items doesn't seem to engage the dump orders again, nor does deleting and re-creating the garbage dump zone. Removing doors in the path likewise doesn't seem to do much.
Steps To ReproduceNot sure. It just happened when I loaded my game today.

Look at the Orders (o) then (r)efuse and make sure dwarves are set to 'gather refuse' and 'gather refuse from outside'.

Yes, I have them set to Gather Refuse, they are also set to Gather from Outside. Setting it to inside doesn't change that.

Also, when I say they have stopped dumping, I mean they have stopped dumping ALL items, not just refuse. For instance, a bunch of pig tail clothing I wanted dumped is just sitting in the hallway.

The dwarves are not restricted to burrows, they are allowed to go wherever they want. Just just aren't dumping anything.

Sounds like 0001173?

Hmm, yeah, that's quite possible. I haven't been exactly tidy with checking for access when designating for dump, since I marked a buncha stuff 'dump' via the stocks screen... Probably the same bug, in that case.

Hmm. Let us know what happens if you get the other items dumped or unmark them for dumping.

After unmarking all items from Dump to neutral status, I let the game run for about five minutes. Then I selectively re-marked certain items for dump: Hoof, Tooth, Cartilege and Hair items, as well as some Pig Tail Fiber clothes of verying sorts - caps, socks, etc.

No dice. No dumping. However, they do seem to be auto-dumping remains I have designated under Orders.

The clothing may be owned (I think you can check this by viewing the item via 'k') or assigned for military use (no easy way to check this AFAIK).

The body parts, though... can you get them to move those to a refuse stockpile?

They're in one now. The whole way I discovered this is there was rotting meat in my stockpile, and I wanted to dump the whole load of refuse there. Lo and behold, they are content to leave all my cow and horse hooves in the stockpile, rather than toss it.

Hm. If you mark random other items for dumping, what happens to those? Is your refuse stockpile full? 0001267 may be at work here.

Marked random Granite (both inside and outside of stockpiles) for dumping, and nobody wanted to dump them either.

Try removing all your refuse stockpiles, then see if they'll do the dump jobs.

Well damn. I'm out of ideas; you should probably upload a save. http://dffd.wimbli.com/

Had you dug into the adamantine/magma sea by any chance?

Nah, not yet. Some underground caverns that are doing the "cavern collapse" dance every time I load the save, but that's been going on pretty much since the beginning of the game.

The save file is here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2243

Alright, I looked at it and I'm pretty sure it's 0000074. Open the [R]ooms list and scroll down to the zones -- the first 3 are totally invisible, but they're probably still getting the dump jobs.

I'm downloading this one to have a look now. I've fixed 0000074, and looking at how dump jobs look, it should just pass over the 0-tile zones, even if they aren't deleted properly. I'll see what I can figure out.

I made a garbage dump zone and they threw a stone away for me, so if it was the lingering zones, that's fixed, and if not, I can't reproduce it. I'll mark it as resolved and we'll see if there are further problems.
