Summary | 0001794: Slowdown in stockpile settings menu on 'Food'
Description | Not a big deal, but the game frequently hangs for about 10 seconds whenever you hover over 'Food' in the stockpile settings menu. (the building not the z-menu) I _think_ this worsens as more food items exist in your fort, but I don't have time to verify atm. Very similar to what happens when you hover over a prolific item type like stone or seeds in the z-menu in a mature fort.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) have lots of food (?) 2) hover over a stockpile with the [q] selector 3) enter stockpile settings [s] 4) go down to the Food subcategory 5) experience slowdown (?) not sure if this step is necessary
Additional Information | Haven't experienced similar slowdowns with any other type of stockpile subcategory, even stone when I am experiencing the stone slowdown in the stocks z menu.

forgot to add - I wouldn't have reported this, since its nothing terrible, except that its definitely new to 0.31.x |
Old bug. Happens with every version I can remember. The more items you have the longer it takes to select that category in the stocks menu. Its generally not a problem until you have 4,000 or so items of that type, but once you get more than that the slowdown becomes noticeable. |
Yea, don't even TRY to use the stone menu in stocks if you don't have an atom smasher. |
No no no, you're misunderstanding. I'm not talking about the stocks z-menu. I'm talking about the stockpile settings menu. Like, the one that lets you edit what can go into this custom stockpile. I'm WELL aware of the z-menu slowdown, believe me. ;p The stockpile settings menu shouldn't need to reference the current amount of goods you have in a category, because it has nothing to do with that(you're just telling it what type of items can go in this stockpile), so the amount of that type of good you possess shouldn't matter...but it does. |
The delay is probably coming from the extra food types reserved for all of the forgotten beasts that exist in your world. |
Ah, that would make sense. It was large world, so lots of forgotten beasts. |
Oh, in the stockpile menu. Yes I have noticed that. I'm unsure why there is a delay when selecting the food category but it definitely is there. There don't seem to be any errors that pop up in the error log about it. |
