| Summary | 0001879: Dead/Rotting Fish on Land After Reclaiming an Abandoned Fort | ||||
| Description | I installed DF (phoebus tileset) on my new laptop which has no number pad (not even a function one!) so when I went to embark I couldn't spend any points in any professions. I embarked anyway, immediately abandoned the fort and after changing the key bindings I set off with a new group to reclaim the spot. When my new group arrived I noticed there were a number of dead/rotting fish strewn about the site. I don't know what, if any, the default intervening time period is between abandoning a site and reclaiming it but I did it fairly quickly if that matters. The climate in my spot is warm, so I'm not sure if there were perhaps any small pools I didn't notice before that may have dried up in the time between abandon and reclaim leaving the fish behind. I'm also not sure if perhaps wild animals in the area might have dragged them from the wagon, I don't know if any were stocked on embark. Since I couldn't actually change any of it without the proper key bindings I didn't pay much attention. They were definitely rotting or dead fish though, and not remains. Not a big deal, I just thought it was odd. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Maybe embark choosing to 'prepare carefully' but then not actually doing anything. Immediately abandon the fort, and then immediately reclaim the fort with normal preparation. | ||||
| Additional Information | 3 biomes in the area: 2 temperate forests (with aquifer), 1 flat sand/peat (no aquifer) the fish were all on the sandy area from what I could tell | ||||

When you abandon and reclaim, all your stuff gets strewn around the map crazily and forbidden. If you embarked with fish, the fish would get strewn around the map crazily and forbidden, and then it would begin to rot. |

Since you used Play Now and don't know what you brought with you, this is going to be hard to verify at all. I am going to assume that this is not a bug - Play Now probably started you with fish and then abandoning probably scattered them. Please report back within 1 week if you can reproduce this issue after embarking with zero fish - you can assign key bindings once you're in game, you'll want to change your secondary selector keys. |

Reopen this if you have a save/world/embark that demonstrates buggy behaviour. |
