Not a bug. Read wiki.

I'll leave this open for the time being, since according to my brief research Toady has never really commented on quantum/infinite stockpiles, beyond one note regarding clutter in workshops.

I feel as if this may be more of a suggestion than anything, but it is also ostensibly a bug.

0000642 relates to quantum stockpiles from a multitile garbage dump - I'm not sure specifically what type of garbage dump puppyeater is talking about in this bug, though.

Reminder sent to: user6, Toady One

Toady, if you get back from your month-end break before this is closed/resolved, I'm not sure if you've ever dealt with quantum stockpiles before.

Footkerchief, you may also remember/know more than I do.

0000642 seems to be the exact same type of bug (or suggestion?). However, I don't seem to remember experiencing it in 40d, but maybe I just never noticed.

Come on, quantum stockpiles are a bug that is now a feature. How would we move hundreds or even thousands of units of rock into a small area without it?

I have a feeling that this one is going to stick around for a long time.

As for this bug report, I did it all the time in 40D, mainly for moving around rock or getting rid of crap goblin loot. It can still happen even with larger drop zones and you're dumping alot of stuff, not just single tiles.

Since the reporter agrees, I'm resolving this bug.

Bring the discussion over to 0000642, everyone.
