Toybasher, maybe you should post the questions in the DF questions forum? Just saying as the insane dwarf not suiciding one could have been asked there.

Anyways, I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Just what is it that you're stealing from the elves and reselling to the dwarves?

In what way is it not working? Did you get a response from the traders? Please try to provide more information when making bug reports.

How exactly can you not sell it?
What items/types are involved?

Can you not move the items to the depot?
Do they not show up on the trade lists?

Are the items forbidden?
Is there a noble mandate to not trade in those goods?

As always, your 'reports' leave something to be desired. Please follow-up with more detail.

They show up red, like they are stolen (they ARE indeed stolen, just why cant I sell them to the dwarves a different civilazation? and the wiki... Red Items have been seized from another caravan and cannot be traded as is; you will need to decorate them or turn them into other items for them to become "valid" trading items. However, usually a caravan from a different civilization will accept stolen goods without changing them first

Did you try decorating them and see if that works?

Really though, you aren't going to make much profit off of crappy elven goods.

Also, maybe you could answer the other questions? The bug reports need as much information as possible in them.

Have you considered the possibility that the aforementioned statement on the wiki is wrong (or possibly extremely outdated)?

I stole some Golden Salve barrels from the elves and couldn't select them for trade to the humans.

However, the humans made a counteroffer to my trade that did include some of those salve barrels. I could trade them, I just couldn't mark them for trade. This might be a separate bug.
