Summary0003907: Wall collapsed even with support, left floating downward slope beside still standing wall
DescriptionI'm not sure why this happened, but a wall that I dug out part of underneath collapsed. It was 2 tiles by 1 tile connected on the north/south. The south face collapsed onto my miner causing him grevious injury when it was dug out. The north face is still freestanding as I did not touch it. As evidence of this, the downward slope on the south part is still stuck beside the north slope, however the upward slope is missing. This last part may be related to 0001295
Steps To ReproduceThis was an unusual collapse. I have not tried to reproduce it. It may be related to the fact that I dug out in a delta where a water source started.
Additional InformationMy current situation makes it difficult to upload files. I will try to upload before and after this accident as I have seasonal saves. You can then try to dig out the same spot and see if you get a similar result.

Might this be related to 0001547?

A contiguous piece of terrain - such as your 2x1 chunk - shouldn't fall unless it's completed unsupported and doesn't fall "in pieces".

did the entire 2x1 piece collapse, or did something else collapse? You say the south-face collapsed, so I assume you mean the segment off of the 2x1 piece heading to the south. Was that section only connected by ramps, for example as follows?

. - floor
X - wall
/ - ramp
  ..
 /X.\
/X...\

In this diagram the right-hand side isn't really supported by anything and so you'd expected it to collapse.

Half the face fell. it was like so:

level 1 2 3 4 5
... ... ... ... ...
.X. .X. .X. .X. .,.
.X. .X. .X. ./. .\.
... ... ... ... ...

I dug it out like this:

... ... ... ... ...
.X. .X. .X. .X. .,.
... .X. .X. ./. .\.
... ... ... ... ...

Suddenly it collapsted like this:

... ... ... ... ...
.X. .X. .X. .X. .,.
.X. .X. ... ... .\.
... ... ... ... ...

This was not how a collapse should have happened, yet it did.

Edit: I can't make the code line up like you did in yours. Maybe it'd help if you shared how you did it?

There's a code command - treat it like an html command (IE angled brackets) rather than a BB-code command.

I'm reading Up is to the Right, right? There were no gaps or anything like that?

You are correct, no gaps no nothing. Up is to the right.
