Summary | 0006163: Surface Grass Grows in Vegetation-Free Desert
Description | Embarking on a sand desert with no vegetation, it's possible to have surface grass grow by digging down into another soil layer. I've reproduced this bug across four different maps, with multiple embarks on each map, in temperature variations from hot (tropical) to temperate (cold). Some areas were next to oceans, some had brooks/streams, some with aquifers, all produced the same bug.
Steps To Reproduce | Produce a new world; larger ones are better. Embark on a sand desert with no vegetation, with a miner and pick. Channel out a large, contiguous area (I used 21x21) and watch grass grow.
Additional Information | Here's a link to a save file. Focus is on the area I've already dug out; the layer above is a sand desert with no vegetation. The embark site is spread across three biomes, two of which are vegetation-free sand deserts. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6762
