Summary | 0008400: Removing natural upwards ramps from icy brook floor produced empty tiles
Description | I was digging out the ice from a section of a frozen river (actually, one deeper than original river). Channeling, removing ramps, etc. Two tiles where generated that have no description but are counted as 'inside'. The tile one z-level up from them is 'outside' and open space.
Steps To Reproduce | Load save file. Look at floor of river near left side of map.
Additional Information | Save file to follow.
Tags | No tags attached. | ||||

has duplicate | 0009715 | resolved | Loci | Removing "unusable glacial upward slopes" leaves permanently unpassable, undiggable tiles |
has duplicate | 0010746 | resolved | Loci | Attempting to remove river tiles during winter via ramps can result in "empty" tiles which cannot be built on or moved through. |
child of | 0001981 | acknowledged | Loci | Constructing wall/floor over ice ramp/stairs, followed by removing ramp/stairs, creates a "void tile" |

I've seen this at least once before. I think. Dunno where, but this sounds eerily familiar, from 0.34.11. Might've been during my turn at Demongate. Either way, you're not the only one. Going to monitor this. |
|
This sounds quite like 0001981. |
|
Better save. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9856 The ramps are marked to be removed. As soon as you unpause the save a dwarf or two will run over there and uncover the mystery holes. |
|
@Rafal99 You're right, it does. I don't think any construction was involved in the recent past in this one. Possibly before water froze to make the ice that I turned into ramps then removed. |
|
This still occurs in DF 0.40.19 |

v0.44.09: fishsicles provided a save and scenario in 0010746: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13724 "I believe the bugged tiles result from ramps which formed through this process: 1.) During a previous winter, build a constructed floor over an ice tile. 2.) Remove this floor. This results in a permanent ice tile rather than the soil tile, I don't know if this is intended. 3.) Let water return to this tile and flow over it, freezing into an ice wall the next winter. 4.) Dig a ramp into the ice wall. 5.) Remove the ramp. This produces the "empty" tile. The ramps which are eligible to reproduce the bug immediately in the save are on the left side of the excavated riverbed." |
